LuluLemon Launch Mushroom Leather Yoga Accessories

Activewear giant Lululemon have announced the launch of the world’s first mushroom leather yoga mat, made from eco fabric Mylo.

Lululemon’s leather-free yoga mat is the first of its kind to be made from the Mylo mushroom leather and will be released alongside duffle and meditation bags.

The partnership is in collaboration with Bolt Threads the creators of this genius fabric, who already count Stella McCartney, Adidas and fashion giant Kering, as partners.

The woven yoga mat made entirely from Mylo, has been meticulously crafted to complement the placement of hands and feet during yoga practice and will be available to purchase alongside the two bags next year.

Chief Product Officer at Lululemon, Sun Choe, says: “Sustainable innovation will continue to play a key role in the future of retail and product and for us, leveraging a material like Mylo demonstrates our commitment to creating a healthier environment through lower-impact products, while also giving us the ability to reimagine iconic pieces in our line through a sustainability lens.”

The launch follows hot on the footsteps of Gucci’s wood pulp leather sneakers, made from leather alternative Demetra.
