The Best Refillable Beauty Products…
We love a bit of beauty over at GNL but as we are always on the lookout for sustainable swaps. And nothing screams sustainable more than a refill.
According to a survey conducted by Zero Waste Week, the cosmetics industry produces 120 billion units of packaging per year.
The good news is that consumer consciousness is growing, and many beauty brands are playing their part in tackling the impact the industry has on the planet.
One way beauty brands are making it easier for consumers to practice sustainable beauty routines is by offering refillable beauty products. Refillable products benefit not only the environment, but also our wallets. The refill for any given product is almost always less expensive than the original packaged item.
Here is a list of some of our favourite beauty refills.
1. La Mer Refills

A favourite refillable product from La Mer is The Luminous Lifting Cushion Foundation. We would love to see this in more shades, but it provides quick-touch, buildable coverage with a naturally radiant finish—all in one chic compact - and a compact you only need to buy once.

Rose Hermès Silky Blush is the brand's sophomore release, following the launch of Hermès’ range of satin and matte lipsticks — and, like its predecessor, is a master class in sustainable luxury makeup. The eight blush options are housed in stylish compacts to be displayed — and reused. The refillable cases have a powder pan that pops in and out with ease.

All Kjaer Wise products are refillable and their weighty, rich and long-lasting metal packaging has made them a social media sensation. Kjaer Weis have designed the Red Edition, an ultra-lightweight version of the refillable compacts made of compostable and recyclable red paper instead of metal, to commemorate the brand's 10-year anniversary.
4. MAC refills

Why buy a new eyeshadow palette when you can channel your inner makeup artist and use your own palette and interchange with individual MAC Cosmetics refills. By refusing to use single-use items and packaging, and using products designed from recycled materials and ingredients you’re helping to preserve natural resources. Win win.
